An Evening with Jill Grove

Renowned for her distinctive dramatic voice and passionate artistry, American mezzo soprano Jill Grove has won critical raves throughout America and Europe for her distinguished portrayals of the heroines of German and Italian opera. She is equally at home with the world's leading orchestras and in recital.
Praised by the Chicago Tribune for her “firmly knit tone from top to bottom of an imposingly wide range,” in the 2016-17 season, American mezzo-soprano Jill Grove makes returns to San Francisco Opera as Madelon in Andrea Chenier and the Lyric Opera of Chicago as Filippyevna in Eugene Onegin, a role she will also sing with the Boston Youth Symphony Orchestra. She also joins the Jacksonville Symphony for Elgar’s The Dream of Gerontius and The Orchestra Now for Bernstein’s Jeremiah Symphony. Last season, she returned to Houston Grand Opera as Ježibaba in Rusalka, Lyric Opera of Chicago as Margret in Wozzeck, and San Francisco Opera as Buryja in Jenůfa in the 2015-16 season.

Ms. Grove is a frequent guest at the Lyric Opera of Chicago, she has sung previous performances of Ježibaba in Rusalka and in past seasons, has joined the company as Klytaemnestra in Elektra, the Witch in Hansel und Gretel, Die Amme in Die Frau ohne Schatten, Amneris in Aida, Erda in Götterdämmerung, Countess Geschwitz in Lulu, and Reginal Segla in the world premiere of Wlad Marhulet’s The Property as part of the inaugural season of Lyric Unlimited.
