THE CUBAN AFFAIR introduces a new character for readers to follow, Daniel “Mac” MacCormick, U.S. Army war veteran. Mac is living in Key West, FL surviving as a charter boat captain of his forty-two foot fishing boat, The Maine. The story takes place in 2015 and the “Cuban Thaw” is underway. Mac is approached to use The Maine in an international fishing competition off the coast of Cuba. The anti-Castro group looking to hire him has another reason to use him, they are eager to retrieve sixty million American dollars hidden in Cuba before Castro’s revolution. Brilliantly written, with his signature humor, fascinating authenticity from his research trip to Cuba, and heart-pounding pace, Nelson DeMille is a true master of the genre.
